The University of Developmental Studies (UDS) male football team and Lagos State University (LASU) women’s football team have qualified for the FISU University World Cup Football.

UDS emerged as the champions of the men’s football event at the 11th All-Africa University Games (FASU), defeating the University of Lagos (UNILAG) 3-0 in the final match.

With this victory, UDS, who previously finished third in the tournament, will represent Africa at the World University Games football event in November.

Meanwhile, LASU Queens defeated UNILAG women’s football 2-1 to claim the Gold medal.

UDS 3-0 UNILAG

Ezedeen Alhassan, a standout player for UDS, was the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.

He scored a brace in the final, breaking the deadlock in the 25th minute and securing UDS’s lead in the 85th minute.

UNILAG struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match, despite creating a few chances. Their goalkeeper, Valour-Peters Micheal, made several saves to prevent further goals.

The victory for UDS marks a significant achievement for the university and a testament to its strong football program.
