Launched in 2013, FASU Championships are either single sport or small cluster events held in various cities across the continent. This gives cities and often universities the chance to host a major international sports event.
In 2019, a total of 5 Championships were successfully held. 3×3 Basketball, Cross-Country, Tennis, Rugby 7s and Badminton are the disciplines that were competed in. Participation in terms of numbers has improved tremendously throughout the years and it only gets better.
Reinventing the FASU Championships to make them more exciting and engaging is an idea that has been embraced by all stakeholders. It is important to note that the timely attribution
of hosts and working with the National Federations for the specific sports has greatly improved. Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco and Uganda are the countries that have hosted at least one of the FASU Championships & the goal is to see many more countries following suit.
Participation in terms of numbers has improved tremendously throughout the years and it only gets better.
