West Africa University Sports Federation (WAUSF) elects new Leadership

Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria — The West Africa University Sports Federation (WAUSF) has ushered in a new era with the announcement of its 2023 election results. The election, which showcased a democratic process, unfolded at the Conference Hall Annex, ACE Building, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, on Wednesday, 20th December 2023.

With participation from twenty-two accredited universities across West Africa, the federation’s commitment to regional inclusivity and representation was prominently displayed.

The elected executive members, chosen by their peers from the participating universities, comprise:

  1. Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko (Dr.) – President
  2. Olawunmi Segun Abiodun (Dr.) – 1st Vice President
  3. Timothy K Mensah (Mr.) – 2nd Vice President
  4. Papa Serigne Diene (Mr.) – General Secretary
  5. Balogun Yetunde S (Ms.) – Treasurer
  6. Boluwaji G. Jayesimi (Dr.) – Assistant Secretary

The WAUSF Electoral Committee extended its heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected officials, expressing confidence in their capabilities to drive the federation’s objectives forward.

With the election of this new leadership, the West Africa University Sports Federation looks forward to fostering collaboration, growth, and excellence in university sports across the West African region.
