Dr. Ralethe Malumbete Honoured by the International University Sports Federation(FISU)

At the occasion of the 2023 Winter World University Games in Lake Placid, New York, USA, Dr. Malumbete Ralethe received the Honorary Member Award from FISU. This was presented by the Acting FISU President, Mr Leonz Eder(SUI) and the Secretary General, Mr. Eric Saintrond (BEL) at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lake Placid, NewYork USA..
Also in attendance were FISU Executive Committee members, including the FASU /USSA President Ms Nomsa Mahlangu- Director Sport UJ (RSA) and FASU Secretary General Ms. Peninnah Kabenge Aligawesa, Head of Sport, Makerere University (UGA). Mr. Risto Nieman Honorary FISU Member from Finland, Ms. Delise O’meally, the Vice President of the United States International University Sports Federation (USIUSF), Prof Byong Jin You President of Myongji University (Korea), Mr. Martin Doulton former Director of Monash Sport and current Director of TeamMONASH (Australia), Dr. Omar AL-HAI Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, UAE University (UAE), Prof. Kemal TAMER – Dean Faculty of Sports Science Istanbul Aydin University (Turkey) and Prof. Anicet Gabriel Kotchofa, from Benin.
Dr. Ralethe who is currently the immediate past President of FASU has been at the helm of University sports at all levels for two decades. His involvement, contribution and advancement of University Sport has been felt in South Africa, CUCSA, FASU and FISU.
The Acting President of FISU expressed his praise and admiration for the contribution made by Dr. Ralethe not only at the International University Sports Federation where he served also on the various committees during his tenure but the consolidation of Africa as one unified force to drive university sports on the African Continent as exemplary.
In acceptance of the accolade of an Honorary member of FISU Dr. Ralethe in a sentimental mood narrated his good times in University sports right from his times as a student leader at University Sports South Africa, CUCSA, FASU and FISU. He was proud of his contribution more especially advocating for the Women and Students voices.
