Shenzhen, CHINA

Delegates from countries in Central Africa took advantage of the world university games to meet on the 17th and 18th of August 2011 in Shenzhen-China and came up with a roadmap towards the formation of their regional university sports federation (FASU - Central)

The meetings, attended by delegates from Cameroon, Congo, DR Congo, and Chad agreed to organise a regional championship in Judo and athletics as an inaugural edition of the FASU-Central games. During this championship, an elective assembly shall also be held to choose an interim executive committee which shall oversee the full legal procedure of constituting this regional association. Cameroon was mandated to provisionally take the leadership of the region and coordinate all the necessary meetings and correspondences leading to the mid December 2012 regional championship and elective assembly.

Though not present at the meeting, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Central African Republic and Sao Tome & Principal are in agreement with the roadmap and are all looking forward to the formation of the regional body.

FASU eagerly awaits the birth of a new regional association which shall promote regional University sports development in the heart of Africa.
